How to make iced tea using a Simple Brew Teapot

The Simple Brew Teapot is one of the easiest teawares to use to make the perfect iced tea by the glass or pitcher. There are currently two different sizes of the Simple Brew Teapot available at Tea Sip, the 400mL and the 1000mL, that can both be used to make various amounts of iced tea.

General guide for making iced tea.
Want to make iced tea? The easiest way to think of it is you are replacing steeping water with ice. For example, to make a 16 oz cup of iced tea, use the amount of tea leaves you would need for making a 16 oz hot cup of tea - 8 grams or about 2 tbsp - but use half the hot water you would typically use to steep the tea leaves - so roughly 8 ounces. Steeping the 8 grams of tea in 8 ounces of hot water then creates a tea concentrate. Then, you can simply pour your hot concentrate slowly over a full 16 oz cup of ice. Much of the ice will melt, cooling the tea and diluting the tea concentrate to the perfect flavor. Voila! Iced tea.
Making a glass of iced tea using the 400mL Simple Brew Teapot.
- Heat your water to the required water temperature for your tea, which can be found on the package, under that product on the website, or on the Brew Guide.
- Add required leaves to your Simple Brew Teapot. For whatever end amount of iced tea you desire, use that amount of tea. For example, if you are making a 12 ounce glass of Hibiscus Lemonade, use 6 grams or 1.5 tablespoons of tea.
- Add your heated water to the Simple Brew Teapot. For whatever end amount of iced tea you desire, use half the amount of water. To help simplify the measuring, each dot on the simple brew pot is about 3 ounces. So, if you are making a 12 ounce glass of iced tea, pour 6 ounces of heated water (to the second dot) into your Simple Brew Teapot.
- Let the leaves steep for the required time. The steep time for each tea is listed on the package, under the product on the website, or on the Brew Guide. For Hibiscus Lemonade, we steep for 5 minutes.
- Fill your 12 ounce glass to the top with ice.
- Once the required steep time has elapsed, slowly pour the liquid from the Simple Brew Teapot over the ice into the 12 ounce glass.
- Enjoy!
- Note: If you have any questions on the amount of loose leaf, the volume of water, the water temperature, or the steep time, check out our Brew Guide.
